Can I use these rock rails as a side step?

Because these rock rails are designed to be extremely tucked and high-clearance, the 1.5 inch DOM tubing on the top rail doubles as a small side step. This provides a useful stepping surface for entering or exiting your vehicle while maintaining a slim profile that stays out of the way of rocks. This setup gives you the utility of a side step without the added bulk of a traditional running board.

Do these rock sliders require welding for installation?

You can get the structural strength of a professional weld-on slider in a convenient bolt-on package. These rock sliders mount directly to the frame, ensuring that any impact energy is transferred into the chassis of the Jeep rather than the exterior sheet metal. While the installation involves drilling a few holes to secure the mounting points, it is a straightforward process that does not require a welder or permanent frame modifications.

Why is DOM tubing used for these rock rails?

We build these using a combination of 2 inch DOM tubing for the main structure and 1.5 inch DOM tubing for the outer rail to provide extreme durability. Unlike standard pipe or seamed tubing, DOM steel is incredibly resistant to crushing and bending under pressure. Combined with a 3/16 inch steel plate on the outside for shielding, these are some of the toughest sliders available, capable of supporting the full weight of the Jeep during trail recoveries.
